Sir David Normington's Data Burdens Review

The Sir David Normington’s Data Burdens Review was published on Monday 16th of February 2009.  Sir David lead a review of the data collection burden placed on police forces in England and Wales by the Home Office.  The aim was to reduce the burden by up to 50 per cent. 
 
The report contains proposals for:

  • cutting out altogether or significantly reducing 36 data streams
  • an end to activity-based costing
  • a reduction in ad-hoc data requests for new data collection
  • a new ‘gateway’ process to limit requests for data which fall outside the statutory annual data requirement.

Home Secretary's strategic policing priorities 2009-10

The Home Secretary's strategic policing priorities for 2009-10 were laid in parliament on 8 December 2008 in a written ministerial statement.

Policing policy e-bulletin

The Home Office bulletin is emailed every month to Home Office policing policy stakeholders.

The June 2009 e-bulletin includes information about the recent Working for the Public Briefing Day, Tilley Awards, Problem-Oriented Partnerships Conference, National Tackling Drugs Week, Inspector's Authority to tackle violent crime, Participatory Budgeting, Neighbourhood Home Watch, the Tackling Drugs Awards and the new online events diary.
